Children’s Seasonal Flu Clinic Scheduled

The Dare County Department of Public Health has scheduled seasonal flu vaccination clinics for children. This is not the H1N1 vaccine which will be offered at a later date.  Seasonal flu vaccinations will be available for children ages 6 months through 18 years of age by appointment at the following locations:

First Flight Middle School and Manteo Middle School – Thursday, October 8th from 4:00 – 7:00

First Flight Middle School and Cape Hatteras Secondary School – Saturday, October 10th from 9:00 – 12:00

Please call the Dare County Department of Public Health Flu line, 475-5003, Monday, October  5th and Tuesday, October 6th from 9:00 until 4:00 to schedule your appointment.

There is NO cost for children’s seasonal flu vaccine at this time.

The Dare County Department of Public Health recommends all children aged 6 months-18 years be vaccinated annually against influenza. All children aged 6 months-8 years who have not received vaccination against influenza previously should receive 2 doses of vaccine the first year they are vaccinated. The second dose should be administered 4 or more weeks after the initial dose.

Household contacts (including children) and caregivers of children aged ≤59 months (i.e., aged <5 years) should also be vaccinated annually. Vaccines can be received at the Dare County Department of Public Health by appointment.
