Welcome to Your Media Center!

Published Feb 14, 2007

Welcome to the Cape Hatteras Elementary School Media Center webpage. 2006-07 is proving to be an exciting year for reading and literacy. Clara Scarborough, Diane Brown and I love every minute of our exciting jobs working with the children at Cape Hatteras Elementary. We’re having a tough time keeping up with all the reading going on, and there is never a dull moment!

We are pleased to host a FLEX/FIXED schedule which allows students to visit the library formally every other week, and browse informally at any time on any day. Our reading soars, test scores improve, and book checkout is continually on the rise. At this point, through Fiction Diggers! Current count says 562 books have been read and documented by participating third through fifth graders since September. Way to go, Readers!

Thanks for the opportunity to work with these outstanding children; we in library and technology remain committed to excellence, partnership, and reading. Please look into any of our accomplishments below, and thanks for visiting!

Sincerely,

Shauna Leggat

Media Coordinator
